Ecce Vineyard is dedicated to providing quality year old bare root stock grapevines of winter hardy varieties. Other varieties will be made available in the years to come. Listed below are the varieties we have currently planted and are expecting to be able to provide for purchase in the near future.

Red Wine Grapevines


	Frontenac University Of Minnesota Release. This variety has excellent winter hardiness (-35 F) and can produce a quality red wine. Has distinctive cherry nose and with deep garnet coloring. Good disease resistance. Late ripening. Acidity can be high but if left to hang on the trellis long enough can be brought into a reasonable level. More Info > Order Now >

	Marquette A new release from the University of Minnesota, this variety is supposed to have excellent winter hardiness and is said to produce a good red wine. Marquette's high sugar and moderate acidity make it very manageable in the winery. Finished wines are complex, with attractive ruby color, pronounced tannins, and desirable notes of cherry, berry, black pepper, and spice on both nose and palate. 	Marechal Foch A red wine variety capable of producing some excellent red wines. This variety ripens much earlier than Frontenac (early to mid September) but does require some winter protection in this region. Some wineries find that hot pressing or carbonic maceration assist in creating the best wines with this variety. Has a semi-trailing growth pattern, good disease resistance and is hardy to -25F. 	St Croix A Swenson variety. Vinifera like wine quality with low tannins and good hardiness (-32F). Ripens midseason and has a semi-trailing growth pattern. Good resistance to black rot and powdery mildew. More Info > Order Now >

Red Wine Grapevines


	Chambourcin Moderate winter hardiness and popular planted in zone 5. It ripens late but when it is ripe makes an excellent red wine. Semi-upright growth pattern with some disease susceptibility. Produces an excellent red wine among the best of hybrid varieties. Available in 2009 More Info >

	Chancellor Another excellent red wine producer this variety ripens late and has a semi-trailing growth pattern. Moderate winter hardiness needs protection past zone 5. Requires cluster thinning. Available in 2009 More Info >

	DeChaunac This variety has moderate hardiness with moderate disease resistance with some susceptibility to the mildews. It ripens in midseason with a semi-upright growth pattern and makes a fair red wine. Available in 2009 More Info >

	Sabrevois Sabrevois is very winter hardy (-35F) and has good disease resistance. It is vigorous and exhibits good upright growth patterns. Said to produce nice aromatic rose's but might also find a place as a blending component in some dry red wines. Available in 2009 More Info >

	Landot This variety is also known as Landot 4511. It has moderate winter hardiness with a fairly early ripening date. It has been known to make quality red wines in the Northeast. Good aging potential. Hardy to -25F it may require winter protection in some regions. Available in 2009 More Info >

	Leon Millot A cousin to Marechal Foch this vine produces an excellent red wine with a distinct berry aroma. It lacks good winter hardiness however and requires winter protection past zone 5. Trailing growth pattern and ripens early. Available in 2009 More Info >

	Corot Noir A new Geneva Program release. The vine is vigorous and very productive. Produces a highly ranked vinous, vinifera type wine. Currently Ecce Vineyards is not licensed to sell this variety we hope to be licensed to sell it by 2010. More Info >

	Noiret A new release from the Geneva Breeding Program at Cornell University. Fruit maturity is approximately Oct 1 in Geneva, New York. Produces an excellent full-bodied wine with a distinct pepper character and moderate tannin content.
